Loretta Lynn - The Definitive Collection

I was introduced to Loretta by KEXP, specifically when she put out the album Van Lear Rose, produced by Jack White of the White Stripes. That album rocks. Around the same time I saw a movie, Coal Miner's Daughter, about her life. So I have a real respect for her as an authentic country legend.

This is a great collection also. I am impressed by her as a performer and a songwriter. Especially given that she completely bootstrapped her career. I think my favorite on the album is "Coal Miner's Daughter" because I can relate to growing up in a blue collar, less-than-rich family (we didn't have it that bad though). I also like "The Pill" and the fact some other songs dropped in stuff about how the pill has changed the face of womanhood.
